Updated for Fall 2019!

This Pre-AP/AP Resource based on nonfiction selections written by various authors can give students an edge on their AP English exams by providing guided practice that models the format, style, and skill achievement of the multiple-choice and free response questions students will encounter. Teachers can easily integrate resource guide activities into their existing lesson plans to gauge understanding of literary and language content while simultaneously familiarizing students with AP exam formats.

Updates

  • – Alignment to the new Fall 2019 College Board Conceptual Framework for AP English Language (available for download on Free Resource page)
  • – Addition of multiple-choice writing questions that address the stylistic choices of the writer.
  • – Addition of free response argument prompts.
  • – Elimination of questions with the “I, II, or III” answer choice format.
  • – Greatly reduced emphasis on identification of literary devices/figurative language.
  • – Minimal use of question stems specifying “not,” “least,” or “except.”
  • – Heightened focus on the author’s purpose and how he or she uses language to achieve that purpose.
