Teacher Talk: Unpacking the Power of Short Stories in AP® Literature

This session will explore effective strategies for integrating short stories into the AP® Literature curriculum. We'll discuss methods for selecting impactful stories, fostering critical thinking, and encouraging students to make deeper connections with the material. Participants will be invited to share their own short story best practices and will leave with practical ideas and resources for enhancing their literature classes.

Facilitator: Clair Antoon-Newton

Clair Antoon-Newton is an educator and new teacher mentor for El Dorado High School. With ten years of classroom experience, she has taught AP Literature for the last eight years. She also works as an adjunct English instructor for South Ark College.

She has served for several years as an AP Reader, a Table Leader for the Arkansas AAIMS Mock Reading, and recently as a panelist on the AP Literature Standard Setting Panel.
