In this session, we’ll explore ways students earn the sophistication point by reviewing responses from the 2024 "food trucks" synthesis question and consider instructional strategies to foster sophisticated thinking and writing in synthesis responses by situating responses within broader contexts.
Kathleen Koljian teaches AP® English Language and Composition and AP® English Literature and Composition in an urban Connecticut high school that serves many multilingual students. She has been a Reader or Table Leader for the AP® English Language and Composition Exam since 2012 and enjoys working with teachers and students to make the AP® English Language and Composition curriculum more accessible. She also teaches dual enrollment courses with the University of Connecticut and adjuncts with the University of Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut State University, and CTState Community College.
