Twenty-five years ago, two AP English teachers in Austin, Texas, collaborated to create literature-based resource guides for their own classes that would provide exam preparation without separating it from ongoing course content. They were so successful with this approach that they wanted to share their ideas with other teachers, and so in 1998 they founded Applied Practice. Soon other classroom teachers around the country began to find the support they needed to equip their own students with skills for success on Advanced Placement examinations and other college readiness tasks, while still working to reach academic and literary goals in their classes.
Today, as our offerings have broadened, we remain committed to our core principle: teachers are our ultimate wellspring for crafting effective classroom materials.
Applied Practice materials are literature and language-based for English and topic-based for math, science, and social studies. Each product line provides support for the current test-driven environment, offering classroom activities written in the style and format of various standardized test assessments, while covering content typically taught in a unit of study.
Additionally, we offer a plethora of instructional materials, conduct Professional Development workshops, and provide mock exams and scoring services.
We are grateful to the many teachers, administrators, content writers and editors, response evaluators, and national partner organizations who have supported Applied Practice throughout the years, and we look forward to another 25 years of empowering teachers and enhancing learning.
