OGT Reading and Core Skills Writing
OGT Reading resource guides offer teachers the opportunity to reinforce important skills while seamlessly integrating test preparation. Each guide includes reading practices in the OGT style and format with correlations to the both the OGT and the Common Core State Standards. Core Skills Writing guides supplement our OGT resources with additional practice specific to writing and editing skills. Each writing guide includes correlations to the Common Core State Standards for all multiple-choice questions.

OGT Reading resource guides include:
- 6 reading passages followed by
- 7-8 multiple choice questions
- 2 short and/or extended-response questions
- 1 writing prompt
- 2 thematically-paired passages and a graphic followed by
- 20 mulitple-choice questions
- 3 short and/or extended-response questions
- 1 writing prompt
- Detailed answer explanations
- Correlations for all multiple-choice questions to the OGT and the Common Core State Standards
- Charts for tracking student progress
The questions in these resource guides address the following OGT standards: Acquisition of Vocabulary, Reading Process (concepts of print, comprehension strategies, and self-monitoring strategies), and Reading Applications (literary text).
Core Writing resource guides include:
- 6 student essays related to the literary work, followed by 10 multiple-choice editing questions for per essay
- 7 essay prompts related to the literary work
- Detailed answer explanations
- Correlations to the Common Core State Standards for all multple-choice questions
Six major skills are addressed in these writing guides: sentence structure and clarity, usage, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and organization/transition.
